SUP YOGA
Practicing Sup Yoga provides just another example of the sense of freedom the gift of yoga gives. Yoga is limitless, adaptive and unique to each individual. Within its endless bounty, any practitioner will be empowered to discover the transcendent benefits they can achieve through the experience of Sup Yoga.
Classes are sequenced to meet any level of experience for paddle boarding or yoga. Private or semi-private bookings are available. We begin on the shoreline touching on the basics of paddle technique before moving onto the water. After reaching our destination, asana practice begins.
Practicing yoga on the water can enhance awareness, increase strength, develop clarity, and make you fall in love with savasana all over again. Some of the benefits of Sup Yoga include the following:
Enhanced Awareness
Awareness is one of yoga’s fundamental teachings. Sup Yoga allows the fluid and unpredictable nature of the water shift one’s focus into the present moment. One can feel the demands of the future and past simply drift away as the Zen of the water creates an all pervasive present experience.
Increased Strength
Yoga Asana is one of the most effective methods of strengthening and toning the body, but the experience is even further enhanced by learning to balance on the water. Sup Yoga amplifies this physical benefit because more stabilizing muscles are engaged thereby increasing productivity.
Deepened Relaxation
Savasana, or guided relaxation, will make you fall in love with the sensation all over again! The tranquility of resting poses are enhanced by the sound of water and the beauty of the surrounding environment: one can experience the euphoric sensations of the sun on your skin and the wind in your hair.
Core Strength
Sup Yoga allows one to take their cross training prowess to new heights. No matter what their athletic background, from beginner to advanced, Sup Yoga will challenge you in new ways: learning to balance on the board coupled with the unpredictable movements of the water provides core strengthening like no other.
Developing Clarity
The love of organic life is referred to as biophilia: an innate and genetically determined love for the natural world felt by humankind. When we are close to nature, mood boosting neurochemicals are released to the brain. Our brains naturally produce the same endorphins during yoga practice. Sup Yoga immerses you in nature for an uplifting yogic experience like no other. The combination results in heightened clarity of thought, a sharpened perspective, and an increase in fine-tuned cognitive performance.
